BEER REVIEWS: Ranga Premium Red Ale

We believe there are not very many red ales commercially available in Australia, and we believe this is most likely our first. When poured this is an amber red beer (no surprise there) with a white head that dissipates awfully quickly providing a decent aroma that is quite alluring hinting at passion fruit. On tasting, this is a sweet malty beer with caramel malt flavours and orange blossom notes. There is some slight bitterness at the end from the floral and citrus hops. As a percentage of all sales go to saving the original Rangas of the world (Orangutans) from extinction, we can now drink for a cause allowing us to sleep better at night. Overall a good beer suited to the colder weather, just a shame the head is gone faster than a brides panties on her wedding night!

These reviews are shaped by our personal tastes and so you should know that both Maca and myself don't find Belgium styled beer particularly appetising and Maca is not a fan of dark beers. Also we both think ginger beers are fucked.

It is important to look close at the beers you are buying. Many beers that you think are imported may be brewed under license and these beers are nowhere near as good as there imported brothers, so always look for the 'Imported' logo. When shopping it's well worth the small amount extra you'll pay.

You may of heard someone say 'why pour a beer? Its already in a glass' well those people need to understand is that to get full flavour out of your beer, aroma is key and the only way to truly appreciate the aroma is to pour it. So everyone pour it if you can and tell any wanker that says that to 'fuck off'.

If you've had look at this blog and are thinking... gee it would be nice to try some of these beers that i've seen here but i really can't afford it, well we think you need to get your priorities in order, however here's a top tip from Maca and myself. We brew our everyday drink at a local Brew By You, a chain of microbreweries that allow you to use their equipment and their recipes to brew excellent quality beer for only half the regular price. So the money we save we put into buying new untried beers. This is a great option for someone who wants to make there wallet a bit heavier, get involved in the brewing process or reduce your intake of preservatives This is good for your health but it also reduces the effects of a hangover.
