BEER REVIEWS: Endeavour 2011 Amber Ale Reserve

Accidentally mistaken for the Endeavour Pale Ale as the packaging is so similar this beer was well received. When poured this is an amber brown colour beer with a beige head, supplying excellent lacing. A roasted malt aroma rises to meet you. On tasting, the chocolate barley dominates the crystal malt characters. The beer is smooth tasting with body. There are hints of spice but any fruity flavours that are found are quickly washed away with the roasted chocolate barley. Maca's opinion is that the chocolate and roasted flavours push the beer towards a stout. Overall we believe this is a outstanding Amber ale "to deliver earthy, resinous and spicy fruit characters."

It is important to look close at the beers you are buying. Many beers that you think are imported may be brewed under license and these beers are nowhere near as good as there imported brothers, so always look for the 'Imported' logo. When shopping it's well worth the small amount extra you'll pay.

You may of heard someone say 'why pour a beer? Its already in a glass' well those people need to understand is that to get full flavour out of your beer, aroma is key and the only way to truly appreciate the aroma is to pour it. So everyone pour it if you can and tell any wanker that says that to 'fuck off'.

If you've had look at this blog and are thinking... gee it would be nice to try some of these beers that i've seen here but i really can't afford it, well we think you need to get your priorities in order, however here's a top tip from Maca and myself. We brew our everyday drink at a local Brew By You, a chain of microbreweries that allow you to use their equipment and their recipes to brew excellent quality beer for only half the regular price. So the money we save we put into buying new untried beers. This is a great option for someone who wants to make there wallet a bit heavier, get involved in the brewing process or reduce your intake of preservatives This is good for your health but it also reduces the effects of a hangover.
