Kolsch is a speciality beer brewed in Cologne ('Koln') Germany. It is one of the palest German beers made and is Germany's answer to the British pale ale. In 1948 the brewers of Kolsch joined in the Kolsch Convention and formalised the Kolsch style in terms of modern brewing specifications.
When poured this is a pale, hazy golden coloured beer with a frothy white head with carbonation streaming up through the middle of the brew. the beer has a pleasant light floral aroma emulating properties found in Pale Ales. It is a light tasting sweet beer with a crisp bitter finish. Tropical stone fruit characteristics make this an excellent summer afternoon beer. For us, this is the best tasting Australian Kolsch yet.
